A warning from the president of the International Equestrian Federation (FEI), has been sent out about the future of Olympic equestrian sports.
Sources say that the popularity of dressage is very low. There have also been complaints about judging and the make up of judging panels and committees.
There is even the possibility that this could lead to the end of show jumping as an Olympic sport, as it’s unlikely that it could be left on its own.
The controversy at the Olympics last week, when four show jumping riders were suspended following positive dope tests on their horses, won’t have been a great help for the sport’s image either.
